Captain's Report

Chris Baker provides us with the upcoming calendar of events, reminds us again about 'keeping carts away from the greens' and has some background on the steel beams supporting the bridge. Have you seen our new furniture on the Bistro deck? Special thanks go to Kath Morley and Lisa Anderson and our flat-packing team of volunteers for all their work putting it together.

Our boys competed in the Foursomes at Southern Golf Club last Tuesday - read Chris' report for their results.

55+ Report

Black clouds threatened the field on last week’s 55+ Competition but after only a couple of holes in the light drizzle it turned into a great day of golf.

32 players braved the conditions and everyone enjoyed the drop out Ambrose competition the first time we have played it. After a few cancellations our mixed format was won by the all-male team of Tom Tarrant, Steve Welch, Mike Hoy and Larry Freeman with a score of 57. Sue Francis and Georgie Carr are loving the comp and together with Andrew Kong and James Areechira took out 2nd spot. Helen Holman scored two gobblers to help her partners, Gerardine Mitchell, Ken Dickinson and Ian McKay to 3rd. Our NTP were Andrew Kong on 6 and on 9 Jacqui Butcher. Helen Holman won the raffle, the first time she has ever won one at the club. We also welcomed Steve Goodey for his first round with us.

Our next competition day is October 6th and will be another round of Ted Baker Stableford.

NZ North Island golf tour - 2027

I am looking into organising a golf trip to the North Island of New Zealand in early 2027.  The plan is to do a ‘bucket list’ style trip and play some of the most outstanding and prestigious golf clubs that it has to offer, including Te Arai North and South, Cape Kidnappers and Kinloch, whilst staying at 5* accommodation along the way.

This is still early in its infancy of planning, but I will be hosting an information night in early November for anyone who would also like to come on this trip.  If you are interested, please let me know so I can add you to the list and provide you with further information.
